Okay, let’s get into the camps!

Pro Tip (from one parent to another): when you find a camp you’re interested in, write down notes about that camp.

Jot down things like cost, dates, and what makes you interested in that camp for your son or daughter.

I’m telling you, it will save you time during your search. Before you know it you may have 10 different Texas basketball camps you’re interested in!

Spurs, Stars, Rockets, & Mavs. Who’s your fav?

Honestly, all the NBA teams in Texas have solid youth basketball programs.

I think it reflects their overall basketball franchises and history of success the past decade.

Can’t go wrong with any Texas NBA youth programs!

What I like most about the San Antonio Spurs & Stars basketball camp is you can actually sign up to see a specific player. And they tell you who before you sign up!

Most NBA camps just say a player might show up and it’s not guaranteed 🙁

At the Spurs camp you can meet Tony Parker, Danny Greene, or even Coyote the mascot!

The Houston Rockets have over 20 camps all over H-Town. They are run by the National Basketball Academy, which also hosts camps for a handful of other NBA teams.

The Dallas Mavericks have put together a really nice instruction program for Dallas basketballers.

Choose from a Hoop Camp, an Elite Camp, and a year-round Skills Camp. There’s something available for all ages, all types of players, at many times, and locations!

Will Mark Cuban show up to camp?

Probably not, but you know his vibe will be there. I can see his innovation and tech background come out on the camp website (which is the best out of any NBA team!)

National & Celebrity Camps

For my new visitors, National Camps are basketball organizations that have camps in multiple states.

Breakthrough Basketball is a national camp you definitely want to check out. They have specialized camps such as Ballhandling & Finishing, Shooting, and Elite Guard.

Heads up: they sell out quickly because their participation is capped for superior instruction.

Don’t want the camper-to-coach ratio to get out of hand!

Nike Basketball comes close to Breakthrough with the number of camps available in Texas.

Take a look at Five-Star & PGC Basketball if you want advanced training against better competition.

Tony Parker and his brothers put on basketball camps in San Antonio separate from the Spurs. You can also find James Harden hosting a few camps in Houston.

Camps Local To Texas

I spoke to one of the owners at Freestyle Sports and they seem like nice people with a solid basketball program.

Freestyle offers summer camps, specialty camps (shooting, dribbling, post play), year-round private lessons, and they even work with schools to put on basketball clinics!

Don Eddy Basketball is run by none other then…well…Don Eddy himself!

Don was a successful college basketball coach and now puts on several camps in Texas. They train over 2,000 student-athletes each summer.

And the Don Eddy Basketball Camp has been in existence for over 30 years, so you know they have quality instruction!

Alodia Sports Academy in Houston has a whopping 26 basketball camps. Choose from Shooting camps, Total Player camps, and Competition Based camps.

College & University BBall Camps in Texas

University of Texas Longhorns offer 9 different camps for both boys and girls.

The Longhorns feature day camps, overnight, team, advanced, and a High School aged clinic.

Whatever camp you’re signing up for, keep an eye out for those discounts!

Southern Methodist University (SMU) Mustangs basketball school is another popular basketball camp in Texas.

The Mustangs are coached by former NBA coach Larry Brown (coached Allen Iverson on the Sixers).

I can’t confirm Coach Brown will be at every camp, but if they teach his NBA and college style drills, I’m sure it will be an educational camp!

If you’re a girl, you have to check out Baylor University Women’s Basketball Camps. Baylor has a basketball program with a winning history and definitely has good skills and habits to teach young basketballers.

Baylor’s Men’s and Women’s  bball camp both offer “Biddie Ball” for the young players and individual camps for the older players.
