2016 Missouri Basketball Camps
The Show-Me State has a lot to offer young ballers. There’s a lot of colleges in Missouri (more than I expected) that provide camps. Colleges are always a great source for summer bball camps.
Can’t find basketball camp that fits your schedule, location or is right for your son or daughter’s skill level? Consider looking outside the state.
A camp on a border of a nearby state could offer exactly what you’re looking for. Do the searching to find out!
Pro Tip: Before you sign up for a camp, make sure to look for camp discounts.
Camps will often give discounts for things like signing up early, attending multiple camp sessions, and bringing a sibling.
Don’t overlook an opportunity to save some cash!
National & Local Basketball Camps
A National camp is a term I use for camps that are hosted in multiple states.
A very popular and expanding National camp is Breakthrough Basketball.
Just in Missouri Breakthrough offers instruction like a Shooting Camp, a Youth Skills Camp, and Elite Guard Camp, and a Ballhandeling & Finishing Camp
I’ve received great feedback from parents about the Breakthrough camps. I think that’s because they cap camper participation.
The cap ensures a low camper-to-coach ratio and more personal attention for every camper.
One of the reviews I received stated that by day two of the camp, the Camp Director learned every campers name.
How cool is that!?
If you’re looking for advanced basketball instruction at an Elite Camp, you have to check out PGC Basketball.
PGC is all about making a player “think the game”. Simply practicing the drills aren’t enough. They want to increase a player’s Basketball IQ and help him or her become leaders on the court.
PGC offers a ton of information about their camp on their website. You can even take a quiz to see if your son or daughter is ready for their camp.
If your child isn’t ready, I recommend their Online Training so your young baller can start learning the game the way it should be played.
Midwest Basketball Skills Academy is a local camp in Kansas City.
MBSA is run by local basketball coach Dave Devaney and he will he assisted by University of Missouri current and former players.
The Midwest Basketball Skills Academy offers shorter camps, which is great for younger players just getting introduced to the game of basketball.
One more local camp to consider is Bobby McCormack’s Basketball Camp is held in Creve Coeur.
They offer camps year-round and specialty shooting camps that focus on technique. Watch this video to get a better idea of the camp:

Camps Hosted By Colleges & Universities
University of Missouri Tigers Men’s Basketball Camp is perfect for the Mizzou fan.
Campers play where the college athletes do, the Mizzou arena! The coaches are also very involved with the camp. I recommend reading the coaches’ basketball background on the camp website.
I’m really impressed by what St. Louis University provides for camps, especially the Women’s Team.
Billikens Mens Basketball has the classic Day Camp with skill stations, contests, lectures, and league play.
Men’s also has an Elite Camp for players looking to get advanced instruction in a collegiate like environment.
St. Louis Women’s Basketball offers an Elite High School Camp, a Kid’s Day Camp, and a Parent/Daughter Camp.
Parent/Daughter Camps (or Father/Son) are one of my favorite camps because it’s a great opportunity for parents to bond with their kid.
Plus, parents can learn drills with their child and then take those same drills and work on them in the home driveway. The camp continues to pay for itself!
Missouri State University provides the traditional college camp options for both boys and girls campers.
Bears Men’s Basketball has an Individual Camp with camp swag like a t-shirt, team photo, and MSU basketball.
Campers will get a chance to go swimming during lunch time, which is common at many college camps.
Missouri State University Women’s BBall offers campers an Overnight Elite Camp, a Day Camp, and a Shooting Camp.
A Shooting Camp is a great opportunity for your daughter to learn the basic shooting form or fix bad shooting habits they may have developed.
Pro Tip: Don’t overlook the smaller colleges. They can provide quality camps too!
For example, Webster University in St. Louis hosts boys and girls basketball camps sponsored by Nike.
Even though the camps may be held by the head coaches of the college, the Nike stamp of approval means they have confirmed the camps will be high quality.
Overall, I’ve only heard good things by camps run by Nike. The only complaint: a camp was too crowded.
