2016 Basketball Camps in Georgia

I think you’ll be happy with all the basketball camps and training options The Peach State has to offer.

You have the Celebrity camps (Hawks), the College camps (Bulldogs), the Elite camps (PGC Basketball), lots of year-round instruction (Will Avery Basketball), and so much more!

Pro tip: When searching for camps looks for camp discounts. They are more common than you would think.

Popular camp discounts are early-bird registration, multiple camp sessions, and signing up with a sibling.

The key to taking advantage of discounts is to plan ahead.

Atlanta Hawks and Dream Camps

Atlanta Hawks Basketball Camp Al Horford copy

If your son or son or daughter is a huge Hawks fan, their summer camp may be exactly what you’re looking for.

The first thing that jumped out at me on the Hawks camp website was their current and former players that attend camp.

Most NBA camps don’t have players attend camp, or if they do, it’s the lesser known players.

Not the case with the Hawks. Al Horford, Jeff Teague, and ‘Nique Wilkins have all attended summer camps in the past.

In addition to the players, the Hawks also offer swag, and professional skills training from trainers.

The Atlanta Dream Skills Academy features a half day clinic for both boys and girls.

At the clinic campers will get training from Atlanta Dream players, a Q&A session with players, and a ticket to see the Dream in action at the Philips Arena!

National & Local Camps

Wondering what a National camp is? It’s a term I use for camps with locations in multiple states.

Breakthrough Summer Basketball Camp LogoA solid National camp worth taking a look at in Georgia is Breakthrough Basketball.

Breakthrough has training in several locations throughout GA with specialty camps ranging from Youth Skills to Offensive Attack Camps.

North Georgia Elite Camps located in Flowery Branch has a lot to offer youth players. Although “Elite” is in the name, all skill levels are welcome.

They have 11 different AAU teams as early as 3rd grade! Check out their website for more info.

For camps, they have training available for boys and girls in grades K through 12. They feature camps year-round with several training options to choose from.

Something else cool about North GA Elite. They have partnered up with the Atlanta Hawks for summer camps. Each camp participant will receive a ticket to a future Hawks game, and a camp t-shirt.

Will Avery has a lot of playing experience. He played for Duke, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and overseas for 9 years.

Check out the video on his website for better understanding of Avery’s training techniques.

Training is year-round so you can get instruction whenever your son or daughter is available.

College & University Camps in Georgia

“Summer camp is an exciting time for everyone in our program. We want to get as many young people from around the state on campus as we can to teach them this great game of basketball.” – UGA Men’s Coach Mark Fox

University of Georgia Bulldogs Basketball CampUniversity of Georgia Bulldogs has the most popular college basketball camps in Georgia. All camps sold out last year.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Fox runs the camps. You can choose from a classic resident and commuter camp (which basically means a day/overnight camp), a shooting camp, and a one day camp option.

UGA Men’s basketball also offers something cool that I haven’t another college camp do.

If your son or daughter is a huge Bulldogs fan, you can purchase a UGA Gear Package with exclusive merchandise!Georgia Tech Univeristy Yellow Jackets Basketball Camp

Georgia Tech Men’s and Women’s basketball are solid camp options as well.

The Yellow Jackets offer the typical day and night camp with many speakers, an excellent camper-to-coach ratios, and Nike swag.

University of Mercer Bears host boys and girls camps too.

Bob Hoffman, the Men’s head coach, runs the boys camp. Women’s basketball has an Individual camp, and an Elite camp for player’s looking for training in a collegiate atmosphere.

Pro Tip: Check out the smaller colleges and universities in additional to the more popular schools.

For example, Emory University Men’s Basketball Coach Z offers three different summer camp sessions, and a one day Elite Camp.

Don’t overlook a great camp like this one!
