Discover Basketball Camps in Virginia

On this page you will find links to over 100 basketball camps in Virginia.

Yep, I know. That’s a lot. Don’t worry! I’ll walk you through all the camps.

As a parent in VA you can choose from several unique camps.

Such as, one of the oldest camps in the country, a camp that doesn’t have wifi, and a camp from a high school basketball powerhouse

But, before we jump into the camps…

Finding basketball camps can be a challenge. Here’s three tips to help you during your search:

1. Get the FREE goods

2. Map of Basketball Camp in Virginia

At the bottom of this page you can find a helpful map of basketball camps in Virginia.

Don’t rely on the map for your basketball camp search though! Not all camps are listed because their locations tend to change.

2015 Basketball Camps in Virginia

The Old Dominion state has all kinds of basketball camps for youth players.

The summer basketball camps in Virginia are dominated by College, National, and Local basketball camps.

Even if you miss the summer camps, there are some great year-round bball programs. Get your son or daughter some get year-round training!

Pro Tip: Before you sign up for a camp, look for camp discounts.

Many offer discounts for things like signing up early, bringing a sibling, and signing up for multiple camp sessions.

Don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to save some cash!

National & Celebrity Camps

A National Basketball Camp is a term I use to describe a camp that has camps in multiple states.

Breakthrough Summer Basketball Camp VirginiaOne of the most popular National camps in Virginia is Breakthrough Basketball.

Breakthrough offers several specialty camps like Youth Skills, Shooting Camp, and Attack & Counter.

I tend to hear from parents that Breakthrough puts on quality camps. I think this is because they limit the amount of participants at each camp. This ensures that each player will get more individual attention.

The bad part? Their camps tend to sell out!

Point Guard College Logo VirginiaLooking for an Elite camp? Look no farther than PGC Basketball.

They have a unique basketball philosophy that helps a player “think the game” and “learn to lead”.

If you can’t attend a basketball camp, they offer online training so players can familiarize themselves with the PGC Basketball concepts from their home computer.

PGC Basketball is so confident that you’ll be happy with their instruction that they offer 110% guarantee.

One on One Basketball Camps Logo VirginiaOne on One Camps offers a lot more than just summer camps to youth players in the greater VA, DC, and MD.

Choose from camps that are held during Winter, Spring, Fall, and Summer. Private classes help a player get one-on-one training. They also offer after school training for several different sports.

In Northern Virginia, One on One Camps offer one of my favorite camps, the Father/Son camp. Learn drills at this camp that can be taken back home and practiced in the driveway.

Camps Local To Virginia

Oak Hill Academy Basketball Camp VirginiaIf you live in Virginia then you may have heard of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson. It’s a basketball powerhouse high school with alumni in the NBA including Rajon Rondo, Josh Smith, and Brandon Jennings.

With Oak Hill’s quality coaching and talented alumni, it’s one of the most in-demand camps in Virginia.

If you’re interested, sign up early. The Oak Hill Academy Camps sell out every year!

Coach Wootten's Basketball Camp Logo in VirginiaCoach Wootten Basketball Camps is one of the oldest in the country with over 50 years of basketball training!

The Wootten camps are located in Virginia, DC, and Maryland. The Boys and Girls Day Camp is located in Arlington.

What I really like about the Coach Wootten camps is the amount of basketball training that the typical camper receives.

Every camper will play in 12 games, taught 13 different skills, have daily station periods, extra early “rise and grind” stations, and daily contests to win awards!

Can’t get much more learning in than that!

Virginia Legends Summer Basketball CampsI wanted to mention Virginia Legends Basketball because it’s unique location. Campers play and sleep in one of America’s most beautiful mountain lodges located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

In addition to basketball training the camp offers fishing, hiking, horseback riding and swimming.

I think the best part of the Virginia Legends Basketball Camp is that campers are required to leave computers and personal devices at home.

There’s no wifi in the woods!

College & University Camps in Virginia

University of Virginia Cavaliers Summer Basketball CampUniversity of Virginia Men’s Basketball Camps are so popular they SELL OUT.

That includes both their Day Camps and High School Camps. Camps are held in the John Paul Jones arena and the University Hall (the old basketball arena).

Unfortunately, if you are interested in an overnight camp for your son or daughter, Men’s Basketball only offers day camps. Lodging is nearby if needed.

University of Virginia Women’s Basketball Camps offer all types of camps including overnight.

The “Wahoo” Individual Camp is the classic overnight and day camp for players age 8-18. There’s also a Little Hoos Day Camp for girls aged 5-9.

Another program available is an Elite Camp for high school aged girls looking to get college level instruction.

Shocka is out, but Will Wade is in.

Virginia Commonwealth University VCU Rams Summer Basketball CampVirginia Commonwealth University (VCU) offers a few boys basketball camps. They look like solid all-around College Camps.

Rams Women’s Basketball offer a day camp with expert instruction from CU staff and players.

They also have an Elite Camp where girls will participate in a Division I practice simulations and drills.

Check out this video to see how the Rams Women’s players interact with the kids!

Old Dominion Monarchs Summer Basketball CampOld Dominion University offers over 10 different basketball camps for both boys and girls.

Men’s Head Coach Jeff Jones is a decorated coach with over 20 years experience teaching basketball.

Jeff and his staff pride themselves on teaching the game of basketball to players of all ages and ability levels.

Lions Women’s Basketball Camps are called Barefoot Basketball, named after the head coach.

Choose from an Elite Camp (for high schoolers), a Shot Camp (easy to learn shooting concepts), and the Day Camp for girls of all ages.

Pro Tip: Don’t skip over the smaller colleges, they can have great camps too!

For example, Hampden-Sydney College located in Farmville offers a Skills Academy, a Shooting Academy, and an Elite Camp for high school aged players.

If you’re a post player, there’s a special camp at Hampden-Sydney just for you. The “BIGS on the HILL” is for players who want to improve their post presence and inside footwork.

Post player camps are rare. If you’re a big guy in the area, this camp may be perfect for you!
