Pennsylvania Basketball Camps 2016

Pennsylvania is the land of D2 and D3 colleges. As you can see on this page, there are dozens.

I know many parents think of sending their son or daughter to the most popular college camps, however, consider my pro tip…

Pro Tip: Don’t overlook the smaller college camps! They may have solid training right in your home town!

Philadelphia 76ers (or is it Sixers) BBall Camps

The Sixers have been running camps since 1985 with over 80,000 campers going through their program.

Their overnight camp is hosted at Valley Forge Academy and College located in Wayne.

Something unique about the Sixers overnight camp is their participation from international campers.

Players from over 30 countries have attended their camps. Great opportunity for your son or daughter to get introduced to other cultures this summer.

In addition to the Overnight Camp, the Sixers have many other programs including a Day Camp, Little Sixers Camp, Sixers Skills Academy, and One-on-One Camps.

National & Celebrity Camps

National Basketball Camps are a term I use to describe camps that are held in multiple states across the U.S.

Starting us off is a well-known camp. Hoop Group Basketball has one of the best all-around basketball programs in the country. And they’ve had plenty of time to perfect their program.

This year is their 53rd summer hosting camps…wow!

They have a well known Elite/Showcase camp. This is for players with college ambitions to showcase their skills and get noticed by college coaches and scouts.

They also have an Academic Elite camp.

If your son or daughter has at least a 3.0 GPA  and can get an Academic Recommendation, they can showcase their skills to the most prestigious academic schools in the country.

Very cool if your kid’s been hitting the books in high school!

Nike Basketball Camp always a solid National program. From what I’ve heard, they consistently put on a quality camp no matter the location.

Breakthrough Basketball is another camp to take a look at. They have several camps located all around Pennsylvania.

What I like about Breakthrough is their dedication to quality instruction over profit. They actually cap participation at their basketball camps.

This ensures more individual instruction for every player. Because of the cap almost all camps sell out, so don’t wait around to signup if you’re interested!

Camps Local to Pennsylvania

Competitive Edge Sports offers top notch basketball training to players in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

In the summer you can find basketball programs galore at CES. Choose from a Shooting Academy, Point Guard Academy, Little Ballers Academy, Skills Academy, and a Girls Basketball Academy.

If you’re interested in year-round personal training, they have some of the most experienced (and in-demand) trainers I’ve ever seen at one gym.

Their hourly rates are high ($60-$90). That’s because with their  experience they can quickly size up a player’s needs and provide the correct instruction.

Keystone State boasts they are the “Number One Ranked Basketball Camp” in Pennsylvania.

I will say this about their camp, if your son or daughter is looking to purely play basketball, this is the camp for them.

Training goes from 8AM – 10PM. And that’s without lecturers. Talk about a day of basketball.

I also like how Keystone splits up campers. In addition to age, they’re also split up by position. So the PGs are with other PGs, Inside Players with Inside Players.

Their camp alumni is extensive too. Including Kobe Bryant, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, D-Rose, Tamika Catchings, and many more.

Visit Coach Chadwin Basketball Academy’s website and get live support. Someone is there to answer your questions via chat, text, and email.

They have this live support because they host basketball camps at traditional summer camps.

This is unique, so, I’ll say it again. CCBA hosts multi-day mini-camps at traditional summer camps. After hours, they then open the basketball training to non-summer campers.

Which is cool, because if you live in the area of, for example, Liberty Lake Camp in NJ, you can practice at their summer camp facility from 5:30pm – 7pm with Coach Chapwin.

Also, consider attending the traditional summer camp for your son or daughter to get solid bball training in addition to all that other fun camp stuff.

College & University Camps

Villanova University Wildcats (balled it up last year in the NCAA) has nine different basketball camps for boys and girls.

Men’s Basketball provides the classic day camp, a skills clinic (which is shorter and cheaper than a camp), and a team camp.

In addition to the Men’s, the Wildcats Women’s Basketball camp has four options for youth players.

Options include day camps, an offensive skills day clinic, and an overnight Elite camp for the players with advanced skills.

University of Pittsburgh Panthers has the traditional day camps for both boys and girls.

If you son or daughter is huge Pitt Panther fan, they will love the immersive camp experience.

Drexel University Dragons is another popular college camp inPennsylvania. There’s two camps sessions for boys and two for girls.

If you live in Philadelphia and are near the campus, Drexel is definitely a summer camp worth considering.

I mentioned above that the smaller colleges in Pennsylvania can have solid training.

A good example is Dickinson College located in Carlisle. The Red Devils Men’s Basketball offers regular camps, Lil’ Devil training, and an Elite clinic.

Dickinson Women’s Basketball has a camp too. They even have extended morning and afternoon camp hours, which is great for working parents!
