2015 Connecticut Basketball Camps

Connecticut has a rich basketball tradition.

UConn and Yale are great bball institutions. Plus, having the longest running basketball camp ever helps cement the bball tradition.

Pro Tip: Haven’t found the perfect camp in Connecticut after browsing the basketball camps? Consider camps in nearby states.

Providence, Boston and NYC are great options. Especially for overnight camps, where you only have to make the camp trip twice: Once to drop off your son or daughter and another to pick them up.

2nd Pro Tip (because I’m feeling generous): Consider car pooling with another parent. That way you would only have to make that trip to an overnight NYC camp once!

Is It Hot In Here Or Just The WNBA Suns?

The WNBA team Connecticut Suns usually puts on summer basketball camps. They like to get out in the community and play with the aspiring girl ballers.

However, I don’t currently see any camps listed for the Suns, but Connecticut is in a nice central location.

Great Camps Local To Connecticut

Even though they do have “Elite” in their camp name they also have camps for little ballers just learning the game. Start learning as early as Kindergarten!

The Connecticut Basketball School states that they are the oldest basketball camp in the country and is in their 55th basketball camp season…55th!!!??

That’s crazy. During all that time, they’ve perfected their basketball instruction.

They offer a few camps during the summer. If you want to take full advantage of their bball training, you can sign up for a 2-week overnight camp!

Camps Hosted By Colleges & Universities

“If they leave here better than when they arrived, I think I’ve done my job.” – Kevin Ollie, UConn Men’s head coach.

University of Connecticut Huskies has a solid Men’s basketball camp.

Having already won an NCAA championship, Kevin Ollie knows his basketball “stuff”. He has a lot of Basketball IQ he can pass down to campers.

UConn Women’s basketball may be NCAA Champs, but I don’t believe they have a basketball camp.

You may want to check up on that. With their popular basketball program, I’m sure they’ll eventually put on a camp.

Yale University Bulldogs has a few basketball camps to choose from. A Day camp and an Elite camp with 2 sessions respectively.

I always say that Colleges use their Elite camps to recruit for their basketball roster and finally here’s my proof!

14 of Yale’s current roster spots all previously attended their Bulldog Elite Camp. That’s the entire team!

If a Division 1 school does that much recruiting out of their own camp, you know the smaller schools are using their Elite camps for recruiting as well.

Have ambitions to play in college? Then, attending those Elite college camps are a must do!

Don’t overlook basketball camps at smaller schools. They can provide solid instruction, especially if they have a history of a winning program.
